Vacuum Insulation Panel: Evaluation of Declared Thermal Conductivity Value and Implications for Building Energy

نویسندگان

چکیده

Policymakers regularly implement stricter building energy-efficiency codes towards curtailing energy use. Inevitably, super-insulating materials such as Vacuum Insulation Panels (VIPs) are essential to satisfy codes. VIPs have been applied buildings for over two decades now, with many lessons learned. Generally, the thermal conductivity values of often reported in literature center-of-panel (λcop) and effective (λeff), factoring bridges. However, there other indexes, λ90/90 (declared value 90% percentile a confidence 90%) λcop,90/90,aged (factoring aging), that increase consistently reliably declared VIPs. These indexes scarcely computed hardly reported. The main aim this study was examine different VIP-based guidelines, draft ISO DIS 16478, evaluate their implications on annual consumption. constitutes four parts: (1) experimental evaluation properties pristine aged VIP samples, (2) computation (3) numerical investigation based reference building, (4) related implications. mean λcop 10 samples 0.0042 W/(mK) increased 0.0073 λ90/90, bridge, aged. Results show significant bearing performance much 2.1 GJ.

A simple and effective model for prediction of effective thermal conductivity of vacuum insulation panels

The excellent thermal insulation performance of vacuum insulation panels (VIPs) make them widely applied in energy conservation fields, especially in buildings engineering. This research work proposes a simple, yet extremely effective, alternative model for prediction of the effective thermal conductivity (ETC.) of VIPs. The ETC. of VIPs is function of the thermal conductivity of the core mater...

Energy Saving Analysis In Building Walls Through Thermal Insulation System

In this study, we discuss about the energy saving in different type of building walls by using optimum insulation thickness with suitable insulation material. The energy saving is maintained by reducing the energy consumption in buildings. Heat losses from building envelope have a major share in waste of energy. So it is essential to save the energy by using optimum insulation thickness. The in...

Determination of the Thermal Resistance of Pipe Insulation Material from Thermal Conductivity of Flat Insulation Products

New European product standards now include a mandatory requirement for manufacturers to declare the temperature-dependent thermal conductivity for each insulation used in building equipments and industrial installations. For pipe insulation systems, the measurement is usually performed by a standard pipe test method, in which the value on a large temperature range is integrated to reduce temper...

Thermal-insulation performance of low density polyethylene (LDPE) foams: Comparison between two radiation thermal conductivity models

The loss of energy especially in industrial and residential buildings is one of the main reasons of increased energy consumption. Improving the thermal insulation properties of materials is a fundamental method for reducing the energy losses. Polymeric foams are introduced as materials with excellent thermal insulation properties for this purpose. In the present study, a deep theoretical invest...
